Dangerous After Meal Habits You Should Stop

* Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

* Don't eat fruits immediately -When you eat your fruits with meals, the fruit is stuck in the stomach along with the contents of the meals and cannot reach the intestines in time. Lying there they get spoilt and spoil the remaining food in the stomach too. Thus it is recommended that you eat a fruit at least one hour after eating a meal or before your meal and preferably in the morning with empty stomach. It is in the morning that the body can best use the nutrients in the fruit and get enough energy to start the day.

* Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest. It is preferable to drink tea an hour after meals.

* Don't loosen your belt -Fiction, not particularly bad for you!
We generally have an attitude that a good meal is that which forces us to loosen our belts. However, loosening the belt is bad, not because it causes the intestines to twist or block but because it means that you have over eaten to a level that you are uncomfortable. Loosening of the belt may also cause you to feel comfortable once again which means you may continue overeating.
So eat only to the extent that you can be comfortable without loosening your belt!

* Don't bathe - Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

* Don't walk about -Fact, it is bad for you! Walking directly after meals is a bad idea, it can result to acid reflux and indigestion. However, walking about half an hour after meals is known to be good for you. Researchers in the Department of Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina, have found that walking after exercise is a good way to burn energy.

The point to note is when to walk, you should ideally walk for about 10 minutes and only 20-30 minutes after meal to prevent acid reflux and stomach upsets.

* Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

Kindly share with family & friends

Eye Health Tips

Simple Tips for Healthy Eyes

Your eyes are an important part of your health. There are many things you can do to keep them healthy and make sure you are seeing your best. Follow these simple steps for maintaining healthy eyes well into your golden years.
Have a comprehensive dilated eye exam. You might think your vision is fine or that your eyes are healthy, but visiting your eye care professional for a comprehensive dilated eye exam is the only way to really be sure. When it comes to common vision problems, some people don’t realize they could see better with glasses or contact lenses. In addition, many common eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and age-related macular degeneration often have no warning signs. A dilated eye exam is the only way to detect these diseases in their early stages.
During a comprehensive dilated eye exam, your eye care professional places drops in your eyes to dilate, or widen, the pupil to allow more light to enter the eye the same way an open door lets more light into a dark room. This enables your eye care professional to get a good look at the back of the eyes and examine them for any signs of damage or disease. Your eye care professional is the only one who can determine if your eyes are healthy and if you’re seeing your best.
Know your family’s eye health history. Talk to your family members about their eye health history. It’s important to know if anyone has been diagnosed with a disease or condition since many are hereditary. This will help to determine if you are at higher risk for developing an eye disease or condition.
Eat right to protect your sight. You’ve heard carrots are good for your eyes. But eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly dark leafy greens such as spinach, kale, or collard greens is important for keeping your eyes healthy, too.iResearch has also shown there are eye health benefits from eating fish high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, tuna, and halibut.
Maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight or obese increases your risk of developing diabetes and other systemic conditions, which can lead to vision loss, such as diabetic eye disease or glaucoma. If you are having trouble maintaining a healthy weight, talk to your doctor.
Wear protective eyewear. Wear protective eyewear when playing sports or doing activities around the home. Protective eyewear includes safety glasses and goggles, safety shields, and eye guards specially designed to provide the correct protection for a certain activity. Most protective eyewear lenses are made of polycarbonate, which is 10 times stronger than other plastics. Many eye care providers sell protective eyewear, as do some sporting goods stores.
Quit smoking or never start. Smoking is as bad for your eyes as it is for the rest of your body. Research has linked smoking to an increased risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, cataract, and optic nerve damage, all of which can lead to blindness.ii, iii
Be cool and wear your shades. Sunglasses are a great fashion accessory, but their most important job is to protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. When purchasing sunglasses, look for ones that block out 99 to 100 percent of both UV-A and UV-B radiation.
Give your eyes a rest. If you spend a lot of time at the computer or focusing on any one thing, you sometimes forget to blink and your eyes can get fatigued. Try the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. This can help reduce eyestrain.
Clean your hands and your contact lenses—properly. To avoid the risk of infection, always wash your hands thoroughly before putting in or taking out your contact lenses. Make sure to disinfect contact lenses as instructed and replace them as appropriate.
Practice workplace eye safety. Employers are required to provide a safe work environment. When protective eyewear is required as a part of your job, make a habit of wearing the appropriate type at all times and encourage your coworkers to do the same.

Self Improvement Tips

While I do not always end up managing to put each of the following tips into practice, I do make a big effort to do so each day. This is a list of my favorite tips to improving your life. All it takes is a little bit each day and you will see wondrous changes. Feel free to add your own tips to the comments.

10. Get off to a Good Start

undefined

This means getting up early and eating breakfast. You will have much more energy throughout the day to follow the rest of these tips if you do! If you are so inclined, you can even include a little exercise in your morning routine. If you live with other people you can try to use this opportunity to get everyone together at the table to eat in the mornings. This is a nice way to start the day and a good way to ensure open lines of communication in a very busy household.

9. Keep a Schedule

It is a very good idea to write down the tasks you need to achieve in each day. As you complete them, tick them off. You should not, however, feel like you are bound to your list. If you don’t manage to do everything, it doesn’t matter – move any incomplete tasks from today on to tomorrow’s list. This is also a great help if you are a procrastinator.

8. Take a Break and have Fun

If you spend too much time in front of the computer, at your desk, or doing whatever it is that your occupation requires, you should take a break. This doesn’t mean you have to take time off work – it just means you should try to make better use of your non-work time to do something fun. I always have difficulty pulling myself away from the computer and as a result I don’t go out as often as I should on the weekend or in the evening. But every time I do – I wonder why I haven’t done it sooner. This is a good way to develop new interests, and friends and to break up the monotony of everyday life.

7. Be Generous

Generosity has a tendency to come back. By generosity I am not referring only to money. You can be generous with your smiles, your advice, and many other things. Always try to find a way to help others. One day you may be in great need and people you know will be more likely to come to your aid when they know that you would do the same for them. You might know someone that could use help around the home from time to time – not only are you doing a good thing by helping them out, but you may also make a great new friend.

6. Accept the things you can’t Change

When something bad happens in our lives, we try to fix them or change them. But sometimes we can’t. Often this leads us to spend hours moping and falling in to depression. If you can make yourself accept the things you cannot change – you will become a much happier person. Acceptance of these situations also allows us to start finding a way to cope much faster. For example, you may realize that you have only $10 left in your bank account that has to last the next 2 weeks. Instead of getting down about it, accept that you have no money and work out a way to survive on that amount. You can save yourself from wasting hours in a bad mood by just getting on with life. You will find much more serenity in life following this tip.

Terrible Skin Habits You Need To Quit Immediately

Always have the best of intentions with your skin care routine. Each day, you drink water, you cleanse, and you prime. You are doing a lot of things very, very right. Unfortunately, even with a dozen great habits – chances are there’s some really terrible ones sticking around for the ride.
Avoid clogged pores during a workout:
It’s a typical problem, we run to the gym without enough time to take off makeup. Working out with makeup on can cause a buildup of excess oil and a higher risk of clogged pores. Certain kinds of makeup contain oils that are more likely to clog pores along the forehead, nose and chin area. “Sweating opens up pores and when there’s a layer of makeup on top of it, combined with dirt and bacteria, it can lead to breakouts categorized as acne cosmetica,” says Dr. David Bank, a dermatologist and author of Beautiful Skin: Every Woman’s Guide to Looking Her Best at Any Age and Founder & Director of  The Center For Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Surgery in Mt. Kisco, New York. Either go to the gym with a clean face or remove makeup prior to working out to reduce chances of clogged pores.
Avoid picking scars:
People tend to pick away at them, thinking they will disappear but unfortunately the scar still remains, they are just picking away at the scab underneath. “For smaller scars caused by shaving nicks or deep scratches that are less than six months old, use an at-home silicone cream to help flatten and remove redness. The cream should be applied twice a day for two months in order to get the best results. For more substantial and older scars, the best recommendation is to have at least four sessions of vascular laser treatments or a Fraxel laser treatment to help reduce the scar itself and restore the skin to its natural color,” says Dr. Bank.
Forgetting your neck and chest:
The skin on your neck and chest is just as important as your face, and equally as delicate. “Any anti-aging product you use on your face should also be used on your neck and chest!” says  plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Rucker.
Diet:
You are what you eat! You’d be surprised how much impact dairy has on the skin. Inflammation-causing dairy can wreak havoc on cystic acne sufferers.”Your best bet: Un-sweetend Almond milk. My personal favorites: Silk Un-sweeted Almond Milk or West Soy’s Un-sweetend Organic Vanilla Soy Milk,” says  Jolie Martin, corrective skincare expert at SKINNEY Medspa.
Picking pimples
There are many reasons for not picking pimples. It can lead to scarring of the face and if aggressive enough, you will end up with pock marks or hyperpigmentation (dark spots) on your face. “At the very least you will scab your face which is more difficult to hide with makeup than the original blemish,” says Gabriela Santana-Blackburn, Executive Director of Esthetics and Teacher Training at Tricoci University of Beauty Culture. All that pressure on a pimple that is not ready to be extracted can lead to a rupture below the skin surface, which in turn will lead to more breakouts. This can turn into a vicious circle that will lead to your skin never being clear of the problem. You are better off leaving this to professionals who know how to extract properly without the adverse effects.
Over-exfoliating:
Exfoliation is a wonderful thing for your skin but too much of a good thing is definitely bad. Over-exfoliating can lead to irritated and flaking skin. This makes putting on makeup a nightmare and can also lead to sensitivity issue. “Sometimes our guests can’t get the facial they need or want because their skin is simply too sensitized and everything burns. We have to soothe the skin and get them to stop exfoliating so that we can do more,” says Santana-Blackburn. Exfoliating at home is best done no more than a couple of times a week using a scrub (with smooth beads and not rough ground shells) or a gentle enzyme or acid peel.
Watch the blow-drier:
Extreme heat from the blow-drier can leave you with broken capillaries, which can become permanently broken over time, says Dr. Rucker.
Sleeping in makeup:
No matter how tired we are after a long day at work or going out with friends, it is really important to take the time to care for your skin at night. If you have an acne/ oily skin, it is imperative to wash away all that excess oil that your skin produced during the day – not to mention all the makeup that was applied and worn during the day which can lead to clogged pores. You also want to wash away all of the pollutants that skin is exposed to during the day – this is especially important to maintaining youthful skin.
Resting your chin on your hand:
Over time, this can lead to sagging, fine lines and wrinkles. Practice good posture and avoid the chin rest.
Rubbing your eyes:
Rubbing your eyes can lead to fine lines around the eye area. “Remove eye makeup by pressing gently on the eye with a cotton pad soaked
in eye makeup remover. Avoid rubbing itchy, tired eyes and instead use eye drops to alleviate the dryness,” says  Beverly Hills Aesthetician, Gina Mari.
The surrounding eye area has the thinnest skin on the face, and it’s the first to show the signs of aging. Pulling on the skin while putting in contacts, applying eyeliner, or rubbing aggressively to remove stubborn eye makeup can unnecessarily create wear and tear on the collagen and elasticity fibers within the skin. “This can cause visible lines and wrinkles prematurely, so be sure to handle this delicate area with care. Also, always apply eye cream with the ring finger (it’s the weakest) and use a gentle patting motion to avoid rubbing and tugging,” says celebrity esthetician  Renee Rouleau.
Sleeping on your face:
This habit can cause unwanted fine lines and wrinkles so always try to fall asleep on your back to avoid unsightly lines that could have been prevented.
Smoking, chewing gum and sipping from a straw:
We all know smoking takes a toll on skin, but many people don’t realize how much. Smoking is the most common cause of wrinkles around the mouth, often called smoker’s lines. Drinking from a straw can create similar lines if the motion is repeated enough. “Chewing gum can also cause wrinkles to form around the mouth, as well as create other issues in the mouth structure. Breaking these habits will help prevent premature lines and other signs of aging!” says dermatologist Dr. Joel Schlessinger.
Licking and nibbling on your lips:
Dry lips are uncomfortable, but licking your lips is not the best solution. Saliva dries, taking any natural moisture with it, says Dr. Schlessinger. The result is dry, cracked and chapped skin.

Watch What Happens When Coke Is Boiled | This Will Change Your Mind About Soda - Health -

Do you know what you are putting into your body when you drink your favorite carbonated sugary drink?

After seeing this video, you might think twice about stocking up on soda or even drinking it occasionally like I do.

When the soda is boiled, the water evaporates, leaving behind ample amounts of sugar that turn into the tar-looking substance you see in the picture above.

Watch the video...

These drinks are essentially sugar and water, we should keep our consumption to the barest minimum.

The American Heart Association writes that 180,000 annual deaths may be linked to the consumption of sugary soft drinks.

So, think about the health implications before you drink that next can of soda.

Why That Diet Soda / Soft Drink/ Mineral May Be Bad For You

From the article 7 side effects of drinking diet soda

Prevention magazine via MSN Healthy Living

Source: http://healthyliving.msn.com/health-wellness/7-side-effects-of-drinking-diet-soda

Kidney Problems

Here's something you didn't know about your diet soda: It might be bad for your kidneys. In an 11-year-long Harvard Medical School study of more than 3,000 women, researchers found that diet cola is associated with a two-fold increased risk for kidney decline. Kidney function started declining when women drank more than two sodas a day. Even more interesting: Since kidney decline was not associated with sugar-sweetened sodas, researchers suspect that the diet sweeteners are responsible.

Messed-Up Metabolism

According to a 2008 University of Minnesota study of almost 10,000 adults, even just one diet soda a day is linked to a 34% higher risk of metabolic syndrome, the group of symptoms including belly fat and high cholesterol that puts you at risk for heart disease. Whether that link is attributed to an ingredient in diet soda or the drinkers' eating habits is unclear. But is that one can really worth it?

Obesity

You read that right: Diet soda doesn't help you lose weight after all. A University of Texas Health Science Center study found that the more diet sodas a person drank, the greater their risk of becoming overweight. Downing just two or more cans a day increased waistlines by 500%. Why? Artificial sweeteners can disrupt the body's natural ability to regulate calorie intake based on the sweetness of foods, suggested an animal study from Purdue University. That means people who consume diet foods might be more likely to overeat, because your body is being tricked into thinking it's eating sugar, and you crave more.

A Terrible Hangover
Your first bad decision was ordering that Vodka Diet--and you may make the next one sooner than you thought. Cocktails made with diet soda get you drunker, faster, according to a study out of the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia. That's because sugar-free mixers allow liquor to enter your bloodstream much quicker than those with sugar, leaving you with a bigger buzz.

Cell Damage
Diet sodas contain something many regular sodas don't: mold inhibitors. They go by the names sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate, and they're in nearly all diet sodas. But many regular sodas, such as Coke and Pepsi, don't contain this preservative.

That's bad news for diet drinkers. "These chemicals have the ability to cause severe damage to DNA in the mitochondria to the point that they totally inactivate it--they knock it out altogether," Peter Piper, a professor of molecular biology and biotechnology at the University of Sheffield in the U.K., told a British newspaper in 1999. The preservative has also been linked to hives, asthma, and other allergic conditions, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Since then, some companies have phased out sodium benzoate. Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi have replaced it with another preservative, potassium benzoate. Both sodium and potassium benzoate were classified by the Food Commission in the UK as mild irritants to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes.

Rotting Teeth

With a pH of 3.2, diet soda is very acidic. (As a point of reference, the pH of battery acid is 1. Water is 7.) The acid is what readily dissolves enamel, and just because a soda is diet doesn't make it acid-light. Adults who drink three or more sodas a day have worse dental health, says a University of Michigan analysis of dental checkup data. Soda drinkers had far greater decay, more missing teeth, and more fillings.

Reproductive Issues

Sometimes, the vessel for your beverage is just as harmful. Diet or not, soft drink cans are coated with the endocrine disruptor bisphenol A (BPA), which has been linked to everything from heart disease to obesity to reproductive problems. That's a lot of risktaking for one can of pop.

4 Motivational Tips For You

It’s so difficult to go on when everything seems to fail, isn' it ?   Are there times in your life when you really want to call it “quits” because you just can’t see any good results from althe hard work you've done?
Hold your horses!
Never ever think of giving up.  Winners never quit and quitters
never win.  Take all negative words out of your mental dictionary
and focus on the solutions with utmost conviction and patience.
The battle is never lost until you’ve abandoned your vision.
But what if you’re really exhausted physically, mentally, and
most of all emotionally?  Here are some sources of motivation
to prompt you in reaching the peak of accomplishment.
1)  The Overwhelming Feeling of Attaining your Desired End
How would you feel after accomplishing your mission?  Of course
you will feel ecstatic.  You might be shedding tears of joy.  Let
this tremendous feeling sink in and encourage you to persist
despite all odds.
When I was studying for the Board Exams, I used this technique
to motivate me.  I would envision the sweetness of folks calling
me a CPA.  It would command respect.  People will look up to
me as a higher level of authority.  And I would have better
chances of finding a good job.  I absorbed all these great
perceptions into my inner being in order to achieve my ultimate
goal.
2)  The Reward System
How would you feel if you’ve entered a contest, but there are no
prizes for the winners?  It’s not very encouraging, isn’t it?
The same principles apply to your vision.  Reward yourself after
accomplishing a goal.  Set a particular incentive for every
objective.
Let’s say if you’ve achieved a particular task, you’ll treat
yourself to your favorite restaurant.  When you’ve finished
a bigger task, you’ll go on a vacation.
Got the idea?
Just set something gratifying to indulge in after completing
a certain undertaking.
3)  The Powerful Force of Humanity
If you want to succeed, surround yourself with the right
kind of people who will support and encourage you all the
way.
Be with people who have the same beliefs and aspirations as
yours.  Positive aura is generated by this fusion of
collective energy from people of “like minds.”
On the contrary, being with people who oppose your ways of
thinking may trigger a negative, yet very powerful, kind of
motivation.
Has anyone ever said to you that “You’ll never get anywhere”
or “You’re wasting your time with what you’re doing?”
Didn’t it made you furious and determined enough to prove to
them how wrong they were?  This is what I’m talking about.
When aggravated, you will do anything to make those who are
against you swallow their words.  But of course, your main
focus should be on the acccomplishment of your goal and not
for the purpose of revenge.  Never let your emotions toward
others alter your main objective.
4)  Take Care Of Your Health
Exercise regularly.  Fill your brains with enough oxygen to
allow you to do your daily tasks with more vigor and energy.
Take regular breaks if time allows.  Having the will power
to continue despite all hardships is extremely important, but
you should still know your limits.
If you don’t take enough rest, you will not be able to think
clearly and you will not be able to do your tasks properly.
In the process, you will just get more frustrated.
Take sufficient sleep and recharge yourself after a hard day’s
work.  Never, ever ignore your health.  I’ve learned my lesson
when I sacrificed my health for the sake of success.   I’ve
worked very long hours everyday and just got minimal sleep.
As a result, I became ill.
It’s not worth it.  Success won’t matter if you don’t have
good health to enjoy it.
Fire up your motivation and live life to the fullest. Cheers !
